Wesley Davis, Chairman of Advisory Board

 APIP is delighted to be able to restore Wesley Davis as the Chairman of the Advisory Board, following a conflict of interest at Mr Davis’ previous employer. He brings approximately 20 years of professional experience in Emerging Markets to the Board and has held a wide range of positions at Chase/JPM, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, HSBC and Renaissance Capital. Mr Davis has spent over seven years as a market maker and proprietary trader of Options and Credit Default Swaps as well as other fixed income products. Initially he was based in New York with a focus on Latin America, he then moved to London thirteen years ago to assist in developing markets in the Former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Africa. As part of the E.M. Institutional Sales teams at Deutsche, ML, and HSBC, he has covered some of the largest Hedge Funds and institutional investors in emerging markets. He later switched to an investment banking role to focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and other “frontier” markets.

Mr Davis holds a BA Degree in Economics from the University of Florida, an MBA from Arizona State Unversity (1992) and an MIM in Finance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management (1993).

Adam Palin – China

Mr Palin is Chairman of China Media Group (“CMG”), a media, entertainment and investment firm with operations in Greater China and internationally. Prior to founding CMG, Adam held the position of CEO of Global Private Equity PLC and Global Private Equity (Asia) Limited, a China focused investment firm. During this time he worked with the Group’s portfolio companies to develop their respective businesses and also established a number of new businesses in the Asia Pacific across a variety of sectors. Adam has participated in over US$ 6 billion of transactions since 2006 across a variety of territories and industries.  He holds a MA with First Class Honours in Oriental Studies from Cambridge University, where he graduated top of his class. He also holds a postgraduate qualification in Economics from Cambridge, and was a scholar of St John’s College, Cambridge.  Adam is fluent in English, French, Spanish, Swedish and Mandarin Chinese.

Gordon Oldham - Hong Kong

Mr Oldham arrived in Hong Kong from the United Kingdom over 30 years ago as a newly qualified lawyer, having been recruited by one of the larger Hong Kong firms to join their litigation department. He was made partner and head of the litigation department two years later. Mr Oldham’s litigation practice continued until 1987 at which time he found himself involved more and more in commercial work and to cater to such and expand his professional experience he formed his own firm and in subsequent years, took on partners who brought with them their own degree of specialty. During his 30 years in Hong Kong, he has been involved in business both locally and internationally and both as a legal adviser but more often than not, as a businessman. Mr Oldham’s direct involvement in business activities has given him a unique insight into the requirements of those who own or run businesses. He is involved in commercial work drawing on his experience of having been engaged as a principal in a number of businesses in Hong Kong and Asia. Mr Oldham’s work also involves corporate finance, joint ventures, distribution and licensing arrangements as well as telecommunications and is involved in commercial and corporate litigation. In his involvement as a principal, he has extensive experience in the hospitability, publishing and jewelry industries and a large amount of his time is involved in the development of several charitable organizations both in Asia. 

David Thompson - Singapore/Sydney

Mr Thompson has 15 years of experience in capital markets and fund management. He is currently a portfolio manager for Canning Park Capital, a pan Asian Long/Short hedge fund based in Sydney.  Prior to that, Mr Thompson was a Director of Redhill Partners in Singapore which is a private investment fund. He has worked for Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse in various roles in equity sales, trading and research before joining Gartmore Asset Management as a Senior Fund manager in the UK. At Gartmore he co-managed a number of diverse strategies, with responsibility for portfolio construction, stock picking and risk management. Two of the funds were short-listed for fund of the year in 2005, and won that award in 2006. 

Guy Mock - North America

Mr. Mock’s career marks nearly 15 years at Bloomberg, where he rose to the position of Asia Pacific Head of Electronic Execution. Mr Mock is an active investor in real estate and acts as an angel investor to several small growing firms in Asia. Prior to Bloomberg he spent a year as Branch Manager for Royal Films, a movie distribution company, in Latin America. He is also a shareholder and board member of Asia Pacific Securities, the subsidiary investment banking division of APIP. Mr Mock graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Whittier College and a Master’s of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) 

Harry August Miller IV - North America

With a focus on business development and deal negotiations, Mr. Miller has successfully built several companies from the ground up. Mr Miller’s most recent projects include Gamecock Media, Play HK Ltd, a toy company based in Hong Kong, and En-Tranz Entertainment, an Asian-based MMOG game publishing company in Hong Kong. Before En-Tranz Entertainment, he was the president and co-founder of Gathering of Developers, an artist-driven computer and video game publisher. Mr Miller was instrumental in setting up the company’s financial and corporate structure, as well as orchestrating a multi-title distribution and equity deal, and the eventual sale of Gathering of Developers to Take-Two Interactive for US $30 million. Miller also built and managed the international distribution network for Gathering of Developers’ titles in Latin America and Asia. In addition, Mr Miller directed all contractual matters with the company’s law firm, Thompson & Knight, as well as investment relationships.  Within 3 years of inception, Gathering had revenues in excess of $100 million. Prior to Gathering of Developers, Mr Miller was the chief executive officer and a pioneering member of game developer Ritual Entertainment.  Mr Miller’s foray into the gaming industry was in early 1995. He was the director of international licensing for Interactive Visual Systems/DWANGO (dial-up wide area network gaming operation), a high-speed online gaming network. He earned his Master’s Degree in Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) in May 1993 

Kurt Hutter - North America

From February 2000 until late 2008 Mr. Hutter worked for Orleans Homebuilders, Inc. (AMEX: OHB) where he was based in Charlotte, North Carolina as a Division Manager, a $130 million annual revenue division for the company.  Charlotte is a key division for the company in that it is a Top 10 market for new home sales in the U.S.A. and is projected to remain strong for the next 20 years.  Prior to his current position, Mr. Hutter was the Director of Development for Orleans in the Philadelphia, PA market.  In that position he was responsible for the acquisition, entitlement, and development of new residential development opportunities in the Greater Philadelphia market.  In addition to his time with Orleans, Kurt has professional experience in civil/environmental engineering and construction management. Kurt is currently working for Anchor Heal Properties in the greater Delaware, Pennsylvania area. Mr Hutter graduated with Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Delaware and Masters in Business Administration from Drexel University, Executive MBA Program.
